Budget 2009

We Belles have always been good with budgets, which is why we are are eagerly awaiting Wayne Swan’s budget speech (any minute now).

 

Wayne’s speech tonight is considered the most important economic statement made to the Parliament each year (no pressure then). Although before he can spend any cash, he has to convince Parliament (stay tuned for the official response from Malcolm Turnbull later in the week – should be entertaining).

Ladies Who Disco.

If you’re after shameless, blameless fun – look no further than Ladies Who Disco. They are  a Perth collective dedicated to fun nights out and raising money for local charities. Ladies who Disco was formed by a group of friends in marketing and public relations with the aim of shaking up Perth’s social scene and do a bit of good at the same time. They hold approx four events a year – each raising money for a different charity.

If you love vintage and like the thrill of  the chase, you can’t beat trawling though traditional op shops. The Big Three? Good Sammy’s, St Vinnies and Salvation Army. Our best tip? Check out the outer suburbs.  You’ll be hard pressed to find much in city locations  - the cool kids got there ages ago.

The Distracted Manual Arts Academy

Lovely Belle Ailsa has let us in on the fantastic  Distracted Manual Arts Academy.

 

Distracted are at 324 Oxford Street in Leederville and are self proclaimed ‘Merchants of Fancy’. They are a busy lot  - as well as a coffee shop, art shop and curiosity shop they run monthly art workshops.

 

This month they have tempted the wonderfully talented Kyle Odgers (aka Creepy) to reveal all about drawing characters. And they promise no drawing skills are required! We like.
